Music Monday

Spotlight on:
Do you ever just stumble across a song and instantly love it? Then you track down the singer, start listening to more songs and love those too? That was me, in 2003, with Sondre Lerche.  Some how or another, I heard Suffused with Love and I was hooked. I scoured the tri-cities for his first album, Faces Down, and found it dusty and unloved in Media Play (much like the rest of Media Play, actually). He's a little Paul McCartney-esque in the sense that he not only writes his own lyrics, he composes the music for his songs as well. His sound is folk-y and eclectic... One song will be acoustic, just him and his guitar. The next will start off with enough string instruments to procure a small orchestra. He has such an uncanny ability to flow upbeat and happy songs into slow, melancholy numbers that you may just think you're listening to a Beatles album. His messy hair and blue eyes on top of his Norwegian accent? I die. Add his looks to the fact that his lyrics are more like poetry set to make-your-heart happy rhythms and you may just fall in love with him too.

One of my personal favorites is his duet with Lillian Samdal, Modern Nature. Below is a little list of a few others, too. ;) Enjoy!
